This dress was a couple of firsts for me.  First piece of clothing for someone other than myself and my first McCall's pattern.  Does anyone else think McCall's patterns are weird? I dunno maybe it's just because I'm so used to Simplicity.  I made the yellow version in the pic.  Only 3 pattern pieces and elastic for the neckline and waistline.  The pattern instructions were easy enough to follow.  The only thing missing was how to attach the strap on the bodice but I think a monkey could figure out how to do that on their own.  My bestie asked me to make this for a bachelorette party this weekend which I was supposed to go to and we were gonna both be wearing dresses made by yours truly but shit happens and I'm unable to go. :( waahh!!  Funny thing is when we were picking out her fabric for the dress she picked the same exact fabric I had originally bought for my own dress for the party! Hey I guess we both have great taste!  Would of been pretty hilarious to see us both out on the dance floor getting down with our bad selves in almost identical dresses.  

The material is a stretch jersey knit.  Another first for me.  This fabric was a little tricky to work with.  The only alterations made to the pattern was to the length.  It originally went all the way to the floor but we shortened it and with this particular fabric pattern it looks better shorter.  What do you think about the sleeve?  I love it!  

You could definitely wear this without the shoulder strap.  Just tuck it inside the dress.  I kinda stressed myself out a little making this. ( I know, no surprise huh?)  I just wanted it to be perfect!  If I was making it for myself all the imperfections would of been no big deal.  But they were no big deal to her either. She loved it! Yay!!
